Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Have you ever struggled with emotions that seem to go from 0 to 60 before you can catch your breath? Maybe those intense emotions lead to behaviors you regret, conflict in your relationships, self-harm, substance use, or other risky choices.

You may feel trapped in a cycle of emotional overwhelm, impulsive reactions, guilt, shame, and regret.

If this describes you, DBT-informed therapy may help.

For when your emotions feel intense, overwhelming, or hard to manage.

Through DBT skills, you can learn how to experience emotions fully without acting on every single one. You can learn how to make wise, thoughtful decisions instead of impulsive ones. You can also learn how to build healthier relationships grounded in mutual respect, boundaries, and effective communication.

What is DBT?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidence-based treatment that teaches practical skills to help you regulate your emotions more effectively and build a life that feels worth living.

DBT includes four main skills modules:

Mindfulness

Learning to be more present and aware of your thoughts, emotions, body, and choices.

Distress Tolerance

Learning how to get through painful moments without making things worse.

Emotion Regulation

Learning how to understand your emotions, reduce emotional vulnerability, and respond more effectively.

Interpersonal Effectiveness

Learning how to communicate clearly, maintain self-respect, set boundaries, and build healthier relationships.

DBT-Informed Therapy at My Practice

While I do not offer a full-model comprehensive DBT program at my practice, I do provide DBT-informed therapy for clients who may benefit from these skills and strategies.

I can also offer parenting sessions for parents of teens who struggle with emotional regulation. If I determine that your needs would be better supported by a comprehensive DBT program, I can help guide you toward appropriate resources.

I am trained in DBT for both adults and teens and have been part of several practices and teams that offer adherent DBT.
