 While I cannot offer a full-model, comprehensive DBT program at my practice, I can teach the skills and strategies to those who may benefit from it. I am intensively trained in DBT and have been a part of several adherent DBT programs (for both adults and teens)  over the past 10 years. For individuals interested in DBT, I will conduct a thorough assessment to determine if I am equipped to help you. If I believe you need a comprehensive DBT program, I will refer you to one. Sometimes, I can partner with another program so that you can still see me for individual DBT and receive group skills training at another program. 

For parents: I may be able to offer you DBT-informed parenting sessions. If the teen is not ready to engage in treatment, meeting with me for invidual skills sessions can still be highly beneficial. We will go over core skills, such as validation, tolerating distress, positive reinforcement, and effective communication, all of which can help you improve your relationship with your teen.

If this describes you, I understand your pain; it can feel like a never-ending cycle that you can’t recover from. Dialectical Behavior Therapy may be the solution. It is a treatment that can change you from the inside out; I have seen individuals go from feeling hopeless, lost, and dysregulated, to balanced, wise, and intentional.

DBT is an evidence-based treatment that teaches practical skills to help you regulate your emotions more effectively and build your life worth living. You will learn to experience your emotions fully without acting on every single one. You will learn how to make wise, well thought out decisions rather than impulsive, risky ones. You can learn how to build healthy, positive relationships full of mutual respect and effective communication. In DBT, there are four skills modules:

  •  Mindfulness – where you will learn to focus your attention and develop self-awareness and acceptance.
  • Distress tolerance – where you will learn to bring down the intensity of your emotional storm down to a manageable level.
  •  Emotion regulation – where you will learn to come out of prolonged, painful emotions and create positive, pleasurable experiences. 
  • Interpersonal effectiveness – where you will learn to improve relationships, communication, self-respect, and make friends.
