About Dr. Anna Sheedy

Hi! I'm Dr. Anna Sheedy, and I am so glad you are considering taking a step towards bettering your mental health.

Do you find yourself feeling stuck in worry, panic, depression? Or feeling unable to control your behaviors and impulses?

Have you experienced a traumatic event and then struggled with feeling unsafe after that? Or struggled with increased anxiety, depression, and hopelessness after the event?

If so, then you have come to the right place. I hope to help you figure out what is keeping you stuck in patterns that aren't serving you.

I firmly believe that therapy works best in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space. Once that is established, then change can effectively start to happen in small steps. If you choose to work with me, I will work diligently to assess the problems you bring in and what is maintaining them; then, I will collaborate with you to come up with a treatment plan that is best suited for you. I use research-supported interventions to help you create change.

Training & Experience

I graduated in 2017 with a doctorate in clinical psychology from La Salle University. I have experience working in multiple settings, such as college counseling, general outpatient, and hospital settings. During my training, I focused on learning:

Cognitive-Behavioral therapy for various mood and anxiety disorders. This type of treatment explores the connections between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while coming up with behavioral goals that will help you improve your mood and anxiety symptoms.

Exposure therapy for anxiety disorders. This treatment involves facing fears with support from the therapist to teach your brain and body that they can tolerate the feelings. It is a wonderful treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Specific Phobias.

Dialectical-Behavioral therapy for Borderline-personality disorder and emotion dysregulation problems in teens and adults. This type of treatment seeks to balance acceptance and change and teaches concrete skills to help you build a life worth living.

Cognitive-Processing therapy for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This is a manualized treatment for PTSD that has been shown to be highly effective in reducing PTSD symptoms. CPT works to challenge trauma-related thoughts and beliefs that keep you stuck in suffering.

Beyond these specific approaches, I can also offer supportive therapy for a period of time when going through life transitions and experiencing general life stress.

Some of the conditions I am competent to treat include:

  • Depression
  • Adjustment Disorder
  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder
  • Social Anxiety Disorder
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Self-harm
  • Relationship Conflict
  • Parenting Teenagers
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
  • Phobias
  • Procrastination/avoidance
  • Borderline-Personality Disorder
