Mindful Transition to College (running summer of 2024)

Get prepared, mentally and emotionally, for a big transition!

This is a 10 week class that meets once per week geared towards incoming college freshman. In the class, we will learn critical skills to support optimal mental health, such as:

  • How to use mindfulness to be present and slow down
  • How to take care of our bodies to take care of our minds
  • How to detach from, and challenge, unhelpful thoughts
  • How to set manageable, achievable goals in line with our values
  • How to improve communication in relationships

....and more!

After years of working in college mental health, I thought long and hard about what skills I have learned over the years that would help this group transition more smoothly. We are taught a lot in high school, but we aren't taught skills on how to regulate and self-manage our emotions. This class is meant to address some of the gaps in knowledge.

This group is appropriate for incoming freshman who are interested in buffering their mental health and learning practical tools for being more independent. Previous experience with therapy is not needed.
